In the picturesque Conondale Valley, at the headwaters of the Mary Valley, only 20 minutes from Maleny, sits Baranbali Farm. Although geographically sub-tropical and in the Hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, the summers tend to more dry and less humid but still benefit from the same rainfall. Winters see cool enough/occasional frosty nights to warrant fires, but days heat up quickly to very pleasant daytime temps of around the mid to late teens ºC. The farm is very traditional in style, growing a little bit of everything from beef to roses, all of which serve a purpose.
Please see individual pages for further information. We are working towards being as self sufficient as possible, not only for ourselves, but also the feed for our animals. Currently we make silage every autumn, plant a mixed winter/spring grass feed and have been trialling sorghum as a future feed crop for our pigs. Leftover silage becomes mulch for our gardens and orchard. The mixed animal manures are composted.
